EPA Punjab urges Lahore schools to promote carpooling to curb air pollution
The EPA Punjab urged schools across Lahore to promote carpooling initiatives to combat air pollution. High traffic volumes, slow-moving vehicles, and idling cars increase particulate emissions, thereby worsening urban air pollution and smog.
The EPA also requested the School Education Department and educational institutions to help arrange shared transport options. Reducing the number of vehicles making repeated trips to schools could ease traffic build-up and lower overall emissions.
Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh stated that carpooling must become a practical and lasting part of any anti-smog planning. Furthermore, schools should adopt a supportive method to assist parents in organising shared transport arrangements.
