Privatisation Commission prequalifies nine parties for acquiring Gepco shares
The Privatisation Commission board approved the prequalification of nine parties to acquire the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco). Muhammad Ali, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation, chaired the board meeting.
The board received eleven expressions of interest (EoIs) concerning the acquisition of 51 per cent to 100 per cent shareholding, along with management control. A financial adviser recommended these nine interested parties for prequalification.
These nine prequalified entities comprise three Turkish energy companies and prominent Pakistani business groups and investment consortia. The nine prequalified parties will now advance to the next transaction phase, which includes gaining access to the Virtual Data Room (VDR) for thorough buy-side due diligence.
