Ahsan Iqbal calls for evidence-based policies to tackle Pakistan's poverty

Professor Ahsan Iqbal spoke at an international conference regarding Pakistan’s Vision for Inclusive and Resilient Economic Transformation. Iqbal stated that the nation must prioritise human resource development, poverty alleviation, and better social indicators as primary objectives.
Approximately 40 per cent of children in the country suffer from stunting, while roughly 25 million children remain out of school. Balochistan contains 11 of the 20 poorest districts in Pakistan.
The government aims to connect poverty reduction efforts with measurable outcomes, effective monitoring, and evidence-based policymaking. To reach these targets, the state is accelerating its work by gathering all relevant stakeholders to support the initiative.
Participants in the conference were urged by Iqbal to provide a comprehensive roadmap and actionable recommendations for sustainable poverty reduction.
