The Directorate of Drugs Control Punjab has issued an urgent recall alert for a specific batch of Erizine 10mg tablets. The drug is commonly used to treat allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose and itchy eyes.

According to the directorate, the Drug Testing Laboratory Punjab found this particular batch substandard after thorough testing. As a result, the Provincial Quality Control Board has ordered its immediate removal from the market.

The marketing authorisation holder has been directed to launch a nationwide recall without delay. Retailers, pharmacies, medical stores, wholesalers, distributors and healthcare facilities have also been instructed to stop dispensing the affected batch immediately and report their stock and consumption records to the relevant drug inspector.

To ensure full traceability of the recalled product, authorities have been asked to tighten surveillance across the pharmaceutical supply chain and take action under the Drugs Act, 1976, the DRAP Act, 2012 and relevant rules. A detailed report is required to be submitted to the Chief Drugs Controller Punjab.

Consumers and patients are advised to stop using the affected batch at once due to potential health risks associated with substandard medication.
