The woman, described as around 20 years old and mentally impaired, was allegedly raped by an assistant sub-inspector inside the police station’s upper floor room.
Her father reported her missing after she did not return home on Sunday afternoon. Upon reaching the police station at about 9pm, he found his daughter crying, claiming a police official had taken her away and then raped her.
The DIG confirmed that the entire staff of the Ghaziabad police station has been suspended due to their responsibility in monitoring any misconduct within the station premises.
According to Kamran, no one enquired about why an assistant sub-inspector brought the woman to the station without female personnel present.
A first information report (FIR) was registered at the Ghaziabad police station on Monday under sections 376 and 155-C of the Pakistan Penal Code and Police Order, 2002, respectively.
The FIR details that the woman’s father identified his daughter in the presence of senior officials after she returned home crying.
