Punjab has taken a significant step towards sustainable urban mobility by inaugurating its first public e-bike battery swapping station in Faisalabad. The initiative was launched under the environment-friendly policies of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad, Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh, officiated the pilot project during an event that also featured a live demonstration of the battery swapping process. Two initial battery swapping cabinet units have been installed to support 24 batteries, with plans to expand to 50 cabinets by December 2026.

Dr Sheikh highlighted the project’s potential to reduce air pollution and encourage the use of eco-friendly transport in Faisalabad. He explained that users can register through the E-Swap app, providing basic identity and address details before completing payment online via EasyPaisa, JazzCash or banking apps after verification.

The e-bike battery swapping station is part of a broader effort to make electric transport more reliable and accessible in Faisalabad. Officials believe this initiative will support sustainable urban mobility while addressing the needs of electric bike riders.

Electric bike riders welcomed the new facility, expressing gratitude towards Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Divisional Commissioner Dr Sheikh for introducing the service in their city. The launch marks a crucial milestone in Faisalabad’s journey towards cleaner and more efficient transportation options.
