Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center (PIFTAC) and e-launched the AI Hub Punjab, marking a significant step in enhancing security measures within the province.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony on Saturday, Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of law and order, stating that it is as crucial as development projects. She noted that crime in Punjab had declined by as much as 70%, attributing this to a shift towards preventive measures rather than reactive responses.

The AI Hub Punjab, according to Maryam Nawaz, will enable the issuance of digital alerts to district coordination committees, helping authorities identify potential problems before they escalate into major incidents. This system is expected to reduce response times against terrorism and other security threats, particularly those emerging from the tri-border region and neighboring provinces.

Maryam Nawaz thanked the Pakistan Army for its cooperation and expressed appreciation for Lahore Corps Commander Lieutenant General Fayyaz Hussain Shah. She also congratulated Home Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, Home Secretary Ahmad Javed Qazi, and other officials for completing the AI Hub in a short period. The chief minister praised the police, Special Branch, and other law-enforcement agencies for working as a unified unit to protect citizens and maintain law and order.

The AI-enabled system will send digital alerts to district coordination committees, helping authorities identify potential problems before they develop into major incidents. This initiative aims to control incidents before they occur, which Maryam Nawaz described as the real success.

Maryam Nawaz also mentioned the government's zero-tolerance policy against corruption, stating that the provincial government would pursue cases involving even Rs. 100. She emphasized the establishment of a public helpline for reporting corruption and the issuance of written instructions to the Inspector General of Police, regional police officers, and other senior officials.

Despite the weaknesses in sewerage and drainage infrastructure, authorities are now removing rainwater promptly. Maryam Nawaz acknowledged that fully rehabilitating and restoring these systems across Punjab would require significant resources.

The AI Hub Punjab is expected to play a crucial role in improving coordination and response times, contributing to the overall security and safety of the province. This initiative marks Punjab as the first province in Pakistan to establish an AI Hub, setting a precedent for other regions to follow.

Controlling an incident before it occurs would be the real success.
