A significant power failure at the Pipri Pumping Station has temporarily halted water supply to multiple areas in Karachi, according to a spokesperson for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC).
The spokesperson explained that the complete suspension of electricity supply to the pumping station, caused by a K-Electric breakdown, has led to the cessation of water supply operations.
KW&SC assured that water supply to the affected areas will be restored as soon as the power is restored at the pumping station.
This latest disruption comes on the heels of a prolonged power outage at the Dhabeji Pumping Station, which affected the water supply to Karachi last week.
K-Electric had previously restored power to parts of the Dhabeji facility after a 17-hour outage, bringing eight of the 10 affected pumps back into operation and restoring water supply to the affected areas.
According to KW&SC, the power breakdown at Dhabeji resulted in a water shortfall of 198 million gallons for Karachi.
The spokesperson emphasized that K-Electric is continuing its efforts to restore power to the remaining feeder of the K-III Pump House, which remains without power.
