The minister emphasized that digital transformation should extend beyond mere connectivity, advocating for comprehensive upskilling and reskilling programs to enhance the digital capabilities of the workforce.

He noted that improved digital skills could enable freelancers and other digital workers to transition towards higher-value services, thereby strengthening Pakistan’s digital economy.

Aurangzeb also discussed the growing adoption of virtual assets, emphasizing the need for an appropriate framework that includes legislation, oversight, and licensing.

He pointed out that the potential of virtual assets extends beyond cryptocurrency, suggesting their application in facilitating cheaper and more seamless remittances.

The minister highlighted the potential for tokenization in areas such as public debt and real estate, indicating that emerging digital technologies could create new avenues for financial innovation.

Aurangzeb called for greater cooperation among DCO member states to exchange successful experiences, share policy approaches, and facilitate investment in the digital economy.
