The deceased, identified as Dr Umer, 45, and his wife Mehwish, 35, along with their daughter Zainab, 10, and two other minor daughters, were discovered dead on Sunday.
The bodies were recovered after the door of the flat on the seventh floor was broken open, revealing a tragic scene.
City police chief Azad Khan stated that no evidence had emerged to suggest the deaths were a homicide, adding that the doctor was facing acute financial problems and had been diagnosed with kidney cancer.
The doctor had left his job at a private hospital and had reportedly stopped going to the hospital since August without any intimation.
The doctor formally resigned from the hospital on September 15, saying he was going to Punjab for treatment.
Investigations are ongoing, and the doctor’s brother and father-in-law have arrived in the city from Punjab to assist in the probe.
City police chief Azad Khan informed that an FIR had not been registered yet, and the investigation is being conducted from every possible angle.
Neighbours reported that the doctor had been a victim of street crime and that the family was undergoing tough financial conditions.
