The move is part of a broader initiative to enhance the customs enforcement system and improve the travel experience for passengers.

During a meeting on Saturday, the Prime Minister instructed that the scanners be imported immediately and installed at airports. Once operational, these scanners will replace manual baggage searches conducted by customs officials, streamlining the process for travelers.

The statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) highlighted that an 'internationally established automated system will be introduced for baggage screening.' This system is expected to significantly reduce wait times and improve the overall efficiency of airport operations.

The PMO also noted that staff providing other services at airports will undergo training to ensure courteous and respectful service. The Prime Minister stressed, 'Courtesy and respect for human dignity in service delivery must be key components of the training.'

The meeting reviewed the customs system and the progress made in establishing and operationalizing Digital Enforcement Stations under Customs Enforcement. The Indus Collectorate, which has been operational for three weeks, has executed 80 operations and seized goods worth approximately Rs205 million.

The PMO informed that 865 personnel have been deployed to cover 26 major transit routes. Additionally, 280 goods valuers have been recruited and will be trained this month and in November. The customs enforcement system has been consolidated into a single, coordinated organization operating nationwide.

The Prime Minister commended the new enforcement system introduced by the Customs department and credited Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial and his team. He reiterated the policy of zero tolerance against tax evasion, stating, 'Tax-paying businesses are respectable, while tax evaders will face strict action.'

Reviewing the customs system, the premier was briefed on the movement of goods and monitoring at various locations nationwide, and the performance of the Customs Enforcement Force. The meeting was informed that significant progress had been made in preventing the smuggling of petroleum products and other goods.

Passenger convenience and comfort are the top priority, and no one will be allowed to harass passengers.
