The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication intends to train 1,000,000 new and existing IT graduates in related technologies over the next five years. To achieve this, the government will establish regional training hubs and provide online or hybrid learning programs alongside targeted scholarships for women and disadvantaged groups.

The policy also sets a target to train 10,000 instructors in emerging technologies by 2027. Barriers to expanding artificial intelligence training in underserved areas include poor connectivity, a lack of qualified instructors, limited facilities, and low public awareness.

Current initiatives such as DigiSkills, Code4AI, the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative, and the AI SEEKHO Program already support these goals. More than 900,000 training sessions were delivered through DigiSkills courses during the 2025-26 fiscal year.

The AI SEEKHO Program seeks to train over 100,000 people in natural language-based application development and artificial intelligence. Code4AI aims to provide 7,500 people with training in AI-driven full-stack development.

Additional proposals include mobile training facilities, regional technology centres, specialized pathways, and stronger partnerships with international and national technology companies. The ministry may conduct a nationwide assessment to identify priority skills and underserved regions before preparing a phased expansion plan for the National AI Skills Program.
