Mohsin Naqvi claimed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government agreed to sign a written agreement and submit an implementation plan within 72 hours covering counterterrorism initiatives. However, Naqvi also stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government backed out of counterterrorism commitments during final negotiations.

Talks between the opposition and federal government at Parliament House commenced after 4pm on Saturday. These discussions continued into the early hours of Sunday but did not achieve encouraging results.

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas confirmed that the talks had not succeeded in reaching a breakthrough. Tallal Chaudhry alleged that the talks failed because the KP government could not guarantee future cooperation against terrorism.

Sohail Afridi asserted that no demand listed during the talks was unconstitutional or illegal. Furthermore, Afridi called for arrangements to hold meetings between the prime minister and opposition leaders in both houses of Parliament.

Afridi also stated that the two sides must ensure effective and feasible progress within two months towards resolving the matters through mutual consultation and negotiations.
