Pakistan's Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has reaffirmed the country's commitment to Saudi Arabia's security, stating that Pakistan will 'go to any extent' required by the Saudi leadership.
In an interview with Arab News, Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan's commitment to Saudi security is unconditional and rooted in the 'deep-rooted, historical and unbreakable bond' between the two nations.
The DG ISPR highlighted that Pakistan already has a substantial military presence in Saudi Arabia, with around 8,000 troops deployed there since May, along with a squadron of JF-17 fighter jets, drones, and an HQ-9 air-defense system.
Chaudhry stressed that nothing could hinder or weaken Pakistan's commitment to Saudi security, adding that the words 'we are there' fully express the country's stance.
The Makkah Defence Alliance agreement, signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey on August 7, stipulates that an armed attack against any one of the three countries would be considered an attack against all three. This agreement aims to enhance defence cooperation among the three nations.
Pakistan's political and military leadership remains in close contact with the Saudi leadership amid current regional tensions, and the country is continuing diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and a peaceful resolution of the crisis through dialogue.
