The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a positive quarterly tariff adjustment of Re0.5194 per unit for the second quarter of calendar year 2026, resulting in an additional Rs12.669 billion in electricity bills for consumers.
According to Nepra, the decision was intimated to the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) on September 4, 2026, and was based on various factors including capacity charges, variable operation and maintenance costs, and fuel cost adjustments.
The adjustment will be uniformly applied to all consumer categories, except for lifeline consumers, units billed under the incremental consumption package, and prepaid consumers, who will remain exempt.
The increase will be recovered over a period of three months: September, October, and November 2026, at a rate of Re0.5194 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
Nepra has extended the quarterly adjustment to consumers of K-Electric (KE) in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Nepra Act, National Electricity Policy, and policy guidelines issued by the federal government.
The adjustment will be applicable to all consumer categories, except for lifeline consumers, units billed under the incremental consumption package, and prepaid consumers, who will remain exempt.
