Currently, around 160 electric buses are operating on 21 routes, catering to commuters, students, employees, and other residents. The Interior Minister, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, and the CDA Chairman, Sohail Ashraf, are leading the initiative. The goal is to provide an alternative to private vehicles, encourage the use of public transport, and promote sustainable urban mobility. The expansion is expected to help reduce vehicle emissions and air pollution in the city.

The CDA spokesperson highlighted that the service aims to make Islamabad cleaner, greener, and better connected. The authority is committed to assessing the service’s performance through public feedback to identify areas for improvement and ensure the service meets the growing travel needs of the city’s residents.

The expansion of the electric bus service is part of a larger vision to transform Islamabad’s public transport system. The CDA plans to continue working on improving the network and supporting infrastructure to provide safe, comfortable, and affordable transport options for all residents.
