Gilgit-Baltistan has launched two major policy initiatives aimed at addressing climate change and enhancing agricultural practices, with support from the European Union (EU).
The first initiative, the GB Carbon Strategy and Action Plan, was formally launched during a ceremony at the Gilgit Secretariat Complex.
The second initiative, the proposed Agriculture Policy and Action Plan 2027–2036, was also unveiled during the same event.
EU Ambassador to Pakistan, Raimundas Karoblis, emphasized the importance of these initiatives, stating that addressing climate change, protecting the environment, and promoting sustainable economic development are key priorities for the EU.
Karoblis added that the EU remains committed to helping Gilgit-Baltistan deal with the growing effects of climate change and will further expand its technical and financial cooperation with the region following the completion of the policy formulation phase.
