The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended a former bank manager, Imran Sajid, in connection with an alleged Rs. 10 million fraud case.
Sajid, who was previously a manager at a private bank’s branch in Okara, was declared a proclaimed offender and his name was on the Passport Control List.
According to the FIA, Sajid and an accomplice allegedly convinced Rehmat Ali, an Okara resident, to invest Rs. 10 million with the promise of high returns.
Instead of depositing the funds into the bank, the suspects allegedly misappropriated the money, leading to Ali’s demand for repayment.
When Ali sought his money back, the suspects allegedly returned Rs. 2.5 million in cash and issued a cheque for another Rs. 2.5 million, which was later dishonored.
The FIA registered a case against Sajid and his accomplice, including provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Pakistan Penal Code.
Further investigation is ongoing to establish the role of other individuals allegedly involved in the fraud.
Sub-Inspector Ajmal Hussain, leading a team from the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Wing in Faisalabad, carried out the arrest upon Sajid’s return from the United Arab Emirates.
