Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to a negotiated and peaceful resolution of the Iran-US conflict, emphasizing the importance of regional peace and stability.
Chaudhry stated that Pakistan has been a 'very honest broker' and has clearly condemned both Israeli and US attacks on Iran, as well as Iran's attacks on Gulf countries, 'without mincing our words.'
He added that no one would benefit from an expansion of the conflict, highlighting Pakistan's stance as a mediator in the dispute.
Responding to questions about the Makkah defence agreement, Chaudhry explained that Pakistani forces have been deployed in Saudi Arabia for decades, and the relationship between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye is built on sustained diplomatic, political, military, and people-to-people ties.
The DG ISPR clarified that the agreement was not formed in isolation and that its implementation and outcomes would be 'purely defensive,' aimed at defending Saudi Arabia and the two holy mosques, Al-Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye signed the trilateral defence framework two months ago, establishing a mechanism to strengthen collective security, military coordination, and deterrence among the three countries.
Chaudhry emphasized that the objective is not to label countries as friends or enemies, but to defend Saudi Arabia and the Haramain Sharifain, while all three countries possess significant military, diplomatic, and other capabilities.
Pakistan's role in mediating the conflict and its deployment of forces in Saudi Arabia underscore its commitment to regional stability and security.
Pakistan has been a very honest broker. So neutrality and everything stands with honesty.
