Naek’s legal career also includes representing PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari before the Supreme Court in the judicial murder case of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He served as a Senator from Sindh since 2003 and was appointed as the law minister after the 2008 general elections.

During his tenure as law minister, Naek defended the federal government in the infamous graft case against President Asif Ali Zardari.
