The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has agreed to manage Hyderabad’s Niaz Stadium for 20 years, a move aimed at upgrading the venue to international standards for hosting major cricket events.
Under the agreement, the board will pay a monthly rent of Rs. 10,000 to the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC), while the corporation will receive 20% of the stadium’s gate-ticket revenue.
Ownership of the stadium will remain with the HMC, but the PCB will gain full administrative control, along with rights over commercial and broadcasting activities at the venue.
Niaz Stadium, established in 1959, has a capacity of approximately 15,000 spectators and has hosted significant cricket matches, including the 1,000th Test in cricket history between Pakistan and New Zealand in 2008.
The stadium previously hosted the unveiling of the seventh PSL franchise’s official name and logo in February 2026, highlighting its importance in the local cricket scene.
This agreement follows the PCB’s previous management of the stadium for 11 years, which ended on April 2, 2018, when the Qasimabad Municipal Committee reclaimed control.
The upgrade is part of the PCB’s efforts to enhance facilities for international cricket and to ensure Niaz Stadium can host first-class fixtures and Pakistan Super League matches.
The move is seen as a significant step towards modernizing the stadium and improving the overall cricket experience for fans in Hyderabad.
