Rawalpindi district has given the green light to 18 significant road development projects, with a total estimated cost of over Rs. 6.5 billion. These projects, which include road rehabilitation, construction, and improvement, are set to transform key areas of the district.

During a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, chaired by Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir, officials reviewed the progress of these projects. The meeting also addressed water supply, sewerage, and other development schemes under the Punjab Development Program.

The approved projects include nine schemes from the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) worth Rs. 1.6 billion and nine District Council schemes worth Rs. 4.8 billion. The projects will be executed by the Punjab Highway Department, with the RMC and District Council providing the necessary funds.

The road schemes will cover major thoroughfares such as Khayaban-i-Sir Syed, Bokra Road, Fifth Road, Rawal Road, the Chandni Chowk to Commercial Market stretch, Railway Workshop Road, and Gordon College Road. Additional projects will also be carried out in Taxila, Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, and Kahuta.

Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir emphasized the importance of regular monitoring and timely completion of these projects. He directed officials to ensure that contractors meet the required standards and timelines, and he stated that he will personally inspect ongoing projects. Any contractor failing to meet these standards will face action.

The approval of these projects is expected to significantly improve the infrastructure and connectivity in Rawalpindi, benefiting both residents and businesses. The Deputy Commissioner’s directive underscores the commitment to quality and timely execution of these vital development schemes.

The meeting also highlighted the broader development plans under the Punjab Development Program, which aim to enhance the overall infrastructure and quality of life in the district. These projects are part of a larger initiative to modernize and improve the urban landscape of Rawalpindi.
