The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has confirmed that no formal instructions have been received to suspend or downgrade mobile and internet services in Rawalpindi or Attock, according to officials.

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has also stated that the Ministry of Interior has not issued any direction to PTA for such actions.

PTA officials emphasized that the authority will only take action after receiving formal instructions from the competent federal authorities.

A request from the Punjab government to suspend 2G, 3G, and 4G services at specified locations in Rawalpindi was made on September 27, starting at 9:00 am.

The requested locations include the route from Barahma Bhatar to the M-1, Gango, Ahata, Taxila City, Wah Saddar, Thallian, and Chakri.

Punjab also requested that mobile and internet services across Attock district be downgraded from September 27 onwards, as per a communication from the Central Police Office, Punjab.

However, as of September 23, no final decision has been taken on suspending or downgrading services in the Rawalpindi region on September 27.

The Punjab Home Department had initially requested the Ministry of Interior to suspend 2G, 3G, and 4G services at specified locations in Rawalpindi on September 27, starting at 9:00 am.

The provincial government stated that timings for other specified locations in Rawalpindi would be communicated separately.
