Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the installation of help desks at petrol pumps to assist people with the registration process for the government’s fuel subsidy scheme. This decision was made during a meeting in Islamabad on September 16, 2026, to review progress on the PM Special Relief Scheme.

The scheme aims to provide fuel subsidies to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, and vehicles up to 800cc. The help desks will be staffed by government officials, volunteers, and petrol pump staff, who will guide eligible people through the registration process and other required steps.

Officials informed the Prime Minister that the scheme has now been launched across Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, after starting as a pilot in Islamabad. The registration process requires only four details: CNIC number, vehicle number plate, province of registration, and vehicle registration date.

The government has stated that the number of successful registrations is gradually increasing, and provincial governments are supporting the nationwide rollout. The Prime Minister directed authorities to increase public awareness about the scheme and provide assistance to eligible citizens.

The meeting was attended by key officials including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers Ahsan Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Ali Pervaiz Malik, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Tariq Bajwa, and senior officials.

The help desks are part of a broader effort to make the registration process more accessible and user-friendly for citizens. The government hopes that these measures will ensure that more eligible individuals can benefit from the fuel subsidy scheme.

The Prime Minister’s directive reflects a commitment to improving the lives of citizens through practical measures. The scheme is expected to provide significant relief to those who rely on motorcycles and small vehicles for daily transportation.
