The senator pointed out that 43% of the accused were known to the victims, and nearly 45% of incidents reportedly took place inside children's homes, raising questions about family vigilance and safeguards.

According to Rehman, 57% of cases were reported from urban areas, while 43% came from rural areas, indicating that child abuse is a societal issue that requires a comprehensive approach.

She stressed that the registration of 89% of reported cases with the police is a positive step, but emphasized that this must be followed by prompt investigations and effective prosecutions.

Rehman urged the higher judiciary to ensure speedy trials in cases involving serious crimes against children, warning that delays could deepen a sense of impunity and further traumatize victims.

The senator called for a shared responsibility between the state and society, urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant while stressing that the state has a constitutional and moral duty to create a safe environment for children.

Rehman concluded by stating, 'Justice delayed in cases of violence against children is not simply a procedural failure. It can become another form of injustice for the child.'
