An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for eight Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) and 709 other accused in the November 26 case.
The warrants were issued on Thursday, with ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra hearing the case and ordering the police to arrest all the accused and produce them before the court.
The court has so far recorded the statements of 42 prosecution witnesses in the case registered at the Secretariat police station.
In a related development, ATC Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain issued arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other leaders in four more cases related to the November 26 protest.
The warrants were issued on police request in cases registered at different police stations, with the court noting that all the accused were wanted in different cases and their arrests were required for conducting investigations.
The court issued warrants for Sohail Afridi, MNA Shahid Khattak, Salar Kakar, and Saddam Tareen in cases registered at the Kohsar Police Station.
Furthermore, non-bailable arrest warrants were issued against four PTI leaders — Sohail Afridi, PTI provincial president Junaid Akbar, MNA Shahid Khattak, and MNA Atif Khan — in cases registered at the Ramna Police Station and Karachi Company Police Station.
