Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Bilal Yasin has directed the relevant officials to digitalise the revenue collection process for horticulture agencies, aiming to increase revenue and improve the quality of green spaces in the province.

Speaking at a review meeting on the performance of horticulture agencies on Friday, Yasin highlighted the potential to generate significant revenue from horticulture agencies, currently managing around 6,500 acres of green areas across Punjab.

The minister emphasised the need to improve the quality of nurseries and ensure better maintenance and beautification of green spaces. He proposed replacing traditional horticulture and beautification practices with modern, machinery-based systems to improve efficiency and quality.

Yasin also proposed improvements to food streets and recreational facilities, along with the strengthening of park mapping and machinery tracking systems to ensure effective management and monitoring.

Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, Punjab Housing Secretary, and Ahmed Usman Javed, Director General of the Parks and Horticulture Agency (PHA), were present at the meeting to discuss the implementation of these measures.

The digitalisation of revenue collection is expected to streamline the process and provide real-time data, enabling better financial management and transparency.

By adopting modern systems, the government aims to enhance the overall management of horticulture agencies and ensure that green spaces are well-maintained and contribute more effectively to the province’s economy.

The move is part of a broader strategy to modernise the horticulture sector in Punjab, aligning with the government’s efforts to improve urban infrastructure and environmental standards.
