The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has granted conditional approval for the rebranding of the merged Ufone-Telenor mobile operation, according to sources within the PTCL Group. However, the exact launch date remains uncertain.

Sources at the PTA stated that the approval is subject to the completion of all required legal formalities. The authority has not received any confirmation regarding the planned rebranding event scheduled for September 15.

Management has proposed replacing the existing Ufone and Telenor Pakistan identities with the global ‘e&’ brand. However, the final brand name, launch date, and transition plan for Ufone and Telenor customers have yet to be publicly announced.

The rebranding process had previously been delayed due to legal and corporate governance questions surrounding the approval process. PTML must now notify the PTA after completing the necessary legal requirements before launching any commercial or promotional campaigns under the new identity.

The PTA’s approval requires PTML to ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met before proceeding with the rebranding. The merged operation is expected to streamline services and enhance customer experience under the new identity.

While the ‘e&’ brand remains the proposed identity, PTML has not yet officially announced the final brand name or the launch date. The rebranding is anticipated to bring significant changes to the telecommunications landscape in Pakistan.
