According to officials, 30 new mobile veterinary dispensaries and 17 mobile veterinary laboratories have been launched. The government now operates 2,206 mobile veterinary hospitals across Punjab. These units will be equipped with ultrasound and X-ray facilities, allowing for comprehensive diagnostic services on-site.
The mobile units will also help screen and monitor livestock diseases. X-ray facilities will be available at 10 divisional hospitals, while operation theatres and laboratories will be established in all 36 districts. The government plans to provide 138 ultrasound machines across the province’s tehsils to further support the initiative.
Veterinary assistants will use 6,964 motorcycles to reach farmers' camps and provide treatment to livestock. The government has reported that more than 1,000 interns working under the chief minister’s internship programme have already treated about 3.4 million animals.
Punjab also plans to establish a model veterinary hospital in every tehsil and construct or renovate 230 existing veterinary hospitals. The proposed model hospitals will include cattle, mechanical, and horse crush facilities, as well as hydraulic operating tables and modern lighting in operating theatres.
