The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) extended its winning streak on Thursday, gaining 1,761.66 points, a positive change of 0.98 percent, to close at 181,776.60 points against the previous session's closing of 180,014.93 points.
Despite lingering geopolitical concerns and volatile oil prices, investors remained optimistic about market sentiment, leading to a firm opening and early trade momentum.
The KSE-100 Index surged as buying interest accelerated across various sectors including automobile assemblers, cement, chemical, oil marketing companies, commercial banks, fertiliser, oil & gas exploration companies, and power generation stocks.
KTrade Securities observed that the rally was broad-based, with nearly all major sectors showing buying interest. Heavyweight names such as UBL, Mari Energies, Fauji Fertiliser, Bank Al Habib, Lucky Cement, Engro Holdings, Maple Leaf Cement, and Hub Power collectively drove the benchmark higher.
While some profit-taking emerged after the market briefly crossed 182,000 points, it did not derail the overall rally. The index settled at 181,776.60 after moving between an intraday high of 182,007.04 and a low of 180,626.93.
Investors remained mindful of external risks, including global oil prices and regional geopolitical uncertainties. However, renewed confidence in local equities outweighed these concerns, allowing the market to post another robust gain.
