Tarar stated that greater awareness of competition law among businesses is essential to promote a transparent and competitive business environment. He noted that awareness campaigns help businesses understand their legal obligations, improve voluntary compliance, and prevent anti-competitive practices.

The CCP chairman highlighted the importance of education and stakeholder engagement in creating a competitive economy. He said enforcement alone cannot achieve this goal; instead, collaboration with universities, chambers of commerce, trade associations, and other stakeholders is necessary to strengthen compliance with competition laws.

Tarar mentioned that the CCP’s enforcement actions have addressed anti-competitive practices in sectors such as sugar, cement, and consumer goods. These interventions have helped curb collusive practices, improve market discipline, and strengthen consumer protection.

Looking ahead, Tarar said the commission is preparing to address competition challenges in digital markets and e-commerce. This move aims to keep Pakistan’s regulatory framework aligned with international best practices.

ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood echoed Tarar's sentiments, emphasizing the need for stronger cooperation between the private sector and the CCP. He reaffirmed the chamber’s commitment to supporting awareness of competition law and strengthening collaboration with the regulator.

The session included presentations by senior CCP officials on the Competition Act, enforcement framework, and complaint mechanisms. It concluded with an interactive discussion involving business leaders and chamber members.

Greater awareness of competition law is essential for promoting a transparent, competitive, and investment-friendly business environment in Pakistan.
