KE and Mashreq Pakistan Launch Cashback Offer for Electricity Bill Payments

Key Takeaways

  • K-Electric partners with Mashreq Pakistan to offer cashback on electricity bills.
  • Customers can earn up to PKR10,000 in rewards through the partnership.
  • The initiative aims to promote digital payments and financial inclusion.

K-Electric (KE) has partnered with Mashreq Pakistan to introduce a cashback reward scheme for its customers who pay their electricity bills using the Mashreq app. This collaboration is part of KE’s broader strategy to enhance customer experience through digital transactions.

Under this initiative, eligible KE customers holding a current account with Mashreq Pakistan can receive cashback rewards ranging from PKR500 up to a maximum of PKR10,000 on their electricity bill payments. The offer is valid for all KE customers who have or open a Mashreq Current or Current Profit Account and make their payments through the Mashreq app.

Noor Afshan, Head of Marketing & Customer Experience at KE, stated: 'At KE, we are committed to continuously enhancing the customer experience by creating greater value and working closely with our financial partners to deliver seamless, convenient, and accessible payment solutions.'

Aamir Hameed, Country Product Owner at Mashreq Pakistan, added: 'At Mashreq Pakistan, we believe digital banking should create value in customers’ everyday lives. Utility bill payments are among the most frequent financial transactions people make, making them a natural opportunity to encourage greater adoption of secure digital banking.'

KE’s digital payments already account for over 70 percent of overall customer transactions, and this partnership is expected to further advance that goal by enabling users to conveniently pay bills without lining up or carrying cash. Currently, over 2.7 million customers are digitally connected with KE, nearly three-fourths of its total customer base.

The initiative combines KE’s expanding digital payments ecosystem with Mashreq Pakistan’s digital banking platform to encourage secure and convenient transactions while supporting broader financial inclusion in Pakistan. The partnership aims to promote the continued adoption of digital payments among a wider segment of the population.

Both companies are optimistic about the potential impact of this collaboration, believing it will not only benefit their customers but also contribute to the overall digital transformation of Pakistan’s financial landscape.

At KE, we are committed to continuously enhancing the customer experience by creating greater value and working closely with our financial partners to deliver seamless, convenient, and accessible payment solutions.
