The conference, held on July 17, 2026, also witnessed the signing of several significant agreements between Pakistani and Chinese companies, valued at nearly $440 million. These deals cover a wide range of sectors including healthcare, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals.

PM Shehbaz's assurance followed recent security concerns in Balochistan, where authorities have stepped up security measures around China-run projects following disruptions caused by terrorists. State Minister for Interior Tallal Chaudhry highlighted the heightened security efforts, particularly around the Saindak copper and gold mine project.

The backdrop of these assurances is a history of attacks on Chinese nationals in Pakistan. According to data shared by the National Counter Terrorism Authority, as many as 20 Chinese citizens had been killed and 34 injured from 2021 until December 2024. In 2024 alone, five Chinese nationals working on the Dasu dam project lost their lives.

In response to these security challenges, PM Shehbaz emphasized that 'we will leave no stone unturned to provide them with the best possible security.' His statement underscores the government's dedication to protecting foreign investments and personnel in Pakistan.

The conference also saw the signing of multiple agreements between Pakistani and Chinese companies. These deals are expected to bolster economic ties and enhance cooperation in critical sectors, contributing significantly to both countries' development goals.
