Key Takeaways

Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton have been nominated for induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. The nominees are up for induction in the contemporary songwriter/artists category, with one inductee to be chosen.

Swift, who was recently inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, is vying for induction alongside fellow country music stars Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton. The Nashville Songwriters Foundation operates the Hall of Fame, which has enshrined 254 songwriters since its inception in 1970.

The nominees were selected based on their significant contributions to the music industry over a period of at least two decades. Swift is a 14-time Grammy winner and has won three awards for best country song, including 'White Horse' and 'Mean.' Her other credits include 'I Knew It, I Knew You' and 'Love Story,' as well as contributing to the song 'Better Man' by Little Big Town.

Lambert, a three-time Grammy winner, has written songs such as her own 'Automatic' and 'Over You,' and also penned 'Choosin’ Texas' for Ella Langley. This last song spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart, surpassing any of Swift’s hits to date.

Stapleton is a 12-time Grammy winner with three wins for best country song: 'Broken Halos,' 'Cold' and 'White Horse.' His other songwriting credits include his own 'Starting Over' and 'Never Wanted Nothing More' by Kenny Chesney.

The nominees will be elected by Hall of Fame members and other professional songwriters and artists. The entire slate of inductees elected in these and three other categories will be announced in the coming weeks, with official induction ceremonies later this year.

Mark Ford, executive director of the Nashville Songwriters Foundation, congratulated all the nominees on their well-deserved nominations. 'We look forward to announcing those who will be inducted this fall as members of our Class of 2026,' he stated.
