The recent escalation in tensions between the US and Iran has once again brought oil prices surging back to life. With fears of inflation growing among investors worldwide due to potential higher interest rates for longer periods, gold is seeing a dip.
As global powers negotiate with Tehran amid ongoing hostilities in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul and Iran’involvement since the 1980s, markets are closely monitoring these developments. Despite this turmoil, India has announced plans to construct a corridor linking Kartarpur Sahib -a significant site for Sikhs- directly with Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan’s Narowal district as part of efforts towards better regional connectivity and cultural exchange.
India is set to complete this project by November 2024. This initiative will enable pilgrims from all religions, particularly Sikhs who commemorate Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s visit to Kartarpur Sahib in the holy month of November for Amrit Vela (Amavasya). The corridor is expected to become a symbolic link not just between two countries but also among faith communities.
