Donald Trump held a campaign rally in San Antonio, Texas, on 7 October 2026. At least half a dozen demonstrators interrupted the remarks made by Donald Trump during the event.

One protester sustained a physical assault from an older Trump supporter as the individual attempted to exit the arena. Trump told the demonstrators to “get the hell out of here”.

Ken Paxton, an embattled Senate candidate, received encouragement from Donald Trump to secure backing from Texas voters. Following the rally, Ken Paxton thanked Donald Trump for the support shown at the gathering.

Trump described Ken Paxton as “perhaps the greatest attorney general in the United States of America”. A New York Times/ Siena College poll indicated James Talarico leading Ken Paxton with 51% to 45% among likely voters.

The poll data also showed that Texas has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1988. A Reuters/Ipsos poll completed on Monday placed Donald Trump's approval rating at 32%.

Furthermore, registered voters preferred Democrats over Republicans with a margin of 44% to 37%. Donald Trump previously referred to Ken Paxton as “a pain in the ass sometimes” last week.

Trump also attacked James Talarico, repeatedly calling him “Tala-freako”. Republican governor Greg Abbott was absent from the rally because he was scheduled to attend a hospital dedication 330 miles away.

Associated Press reported that Republicans have devoted more than $300 million to elections in Texas.
