North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ordered military commanders to fully prepare their units for war during the third meeting of Company Leaders of the Korean People’s Army. The primary revolutionary task for company leaders is to complete combat preparations through radical improvements in strenuous and intensive training, Un said.

Un told the leaders to prove their loyalty to the ruling Workers’ Party and the revolution by turning their companies into a-match-for-a-hundred ranks with firm revolutionary faith and patriotic spirit. The leader participated in a photo session with the meeting participants on 27 October.

Tensions remain high after an explosion occurred inside the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on 21 September, wounding three South Korean soldiers. Seoul blamed Pyongyang for the blast, while Pyongyang rejected the accusations from the South Korean capital.

South Korea stated that both sides should resume military communication to ease tensions, but Pyongyang has not responded to the offer of talks. Both sides have written to the UN Security Council presenting their own accounts of the September incident.
