OpenAI introduced GPT-6.1 Terra, a new model designed to provide rapid and capable computer use at a reduced price point. Standard API prices for the new model are 50% lower than those of GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol.

The same benchmark showed the model cost approximately one-third as much per task as GPT-5.6 Terra. GPT-6.1 Terra matched the performance of GPT-6 Astra at roughly one-tenth of its price per token.

Factual error rates dropped by nearly 37 percentage points at low reasoning effort compared to GPT-5.6 Terra. At maximum effort, the factual error rate fell by 18 percentage points to 4.3% against GPT-5.6 Terra.

The model solved 50.3% of problems at maximum reasoning effort in Terminal-Bench 4.0, which is more than double the performance of GPT-5.6 Terra. GPT-6.1 Terra meets the critical cybersecurity capability threshold under the Preparedness Framework of OpenAI.

Subscribers to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Enterprise, and Edu can now access the new model. API pricing for GPT-6.1 Terra is set at $1.00 per 1 million tokens for input and $5.00 per 1 million tokens for output.

Cached input prices for the API are $0.05 per 1 million tokens.
