Why this matters

GSP+ governs duty-free access for textiles, which is the largest share of Pakistan's export earnings and of its formal manufacturing jobs. Losing it would be an economic event on the scale of a currency crisis.

Economy: Duty-free access is worth billions in exports a year. The monitoring findings attached to GSP+ tie that access to labour and human rights commitments, which is why the reviews are political as well as commercial.
