Ghulam Mustafa Bashir achieved a solid start in the men’s 25 metre rapid fire pistol event, finishing eighth among twenty-eight shooters with a score of 289-8x. The athlete is scheduled to compete in the second stage on Thursday.
Bashir’s total of 289 points positioned him just one point behind Kazakhstan’s Nikita Chiryukin, who occupied seventh place. China’s Su Lianbofan topped the stage one standings with a score of 297-12x.
South Korea’s Yoon Seoyeong scored 293-9x in the competition. Lee Gunhyeok recorded a score of 292-8x.
Razi expressed hope that Bashir will manage to advance to the finals. Razi stated, “I think he is in the best position to proceed. The second stage is more important. The pressure is really on top two shooters and if Bashir keeps his focus he can qualify and even win a medal.”
Regarding the Asian Games, only two shooters participated due to issues with National Olympic Committees (NOCs). Rabia Kabir concluded her participation in the 25m pistol event after failing to improve her standing.
Razi explained that the inability to proceed stemmed from late NOC issuance, which complicated ammunition transport after a missed flight. Kishmala previously secured a historic bronze medal at the 2023 Hanzghou Asian Games.
