Pakistan authorities and WHO agree to improve medicine safety monitoring

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Pakistan Pediatric Association (PPA) agreed to strengthen collaboration on medicine safety awareness. Dr. Akhtar Abbas Khan, Director Pharmacy Services at DRAP, met with WHO Pakistan Technical Officer Asadullah and PPA President Prof. Gen. Salman Ali during the 28th Biennial International Pediatric Conference.
Participants, including PPA General Secretary Dr. Waseem Jamalvi and Prof. Dure Samin Akram, discussed sensitising paediatric consultants to report suspected adverse drug reactions and adverse events following immunization. The PPA committed to working with DRAP to promote medicine safety communication and encourage timely reporting of these events nationwide.
This cooperation intends to bolster pharmacovigilance practices and improve patient safety through more effective monitoring of medicine-related risks.
