Mian Muhammad Adrees delivered a lecture on “Code of Conduct: Ethics and Protocols” during a workshop for the new FCCI Executive Committee. He stressed that newly elected FCCI office-bearers must adopt a service-oriented approach and move beyond personal interests.
Adrees also stated that the performance of the newly elected office-bearers will determine the evaluation of both the FCCI and the National Group. Furthermore, he advised that outgoing presidents and standing committees should furnish written accounts of achievements and outstanding targets to the incoming leadership.
The chamber’s revenues, Adrees noted, are public money and require the highest standards of financial responsibility and transparency. Arif Ehsan Malik, the FCCI President, will lead the organization, and Adrees suggested that Executive Committee members should offer their support to him.
Mian Javed Iqbal highlighted that FCCI contributed to establishing Faisalabad Dry Port, which marked Pakistan’s first private sector dry port. Iqbal further pointed out that FCCI played a key role in initiatives concerning industrial estates, the Garment City, and value addition.
The National Group has maintained FCCI leadership continuity across the last three decades, according to Iqbal. Iqbal also mentioned that none of the presidents elected under the National Group had served a second term.
The present leadership must identify five or six priority projects for the year and pursue them with clear objectives, advised Iqbal.
