The Directorate General of Customs (DGCA) has revised the customs values on various toys and accessories imported into Pakistan, citing changes in international market prices, import trends, declared values, wide variations within categories/specifications, as well as current market conditions. These revisions are based on Valuation Ruling No’1669-2022, which has been under review for a significant period.
In recent years, the Pakistan government’s approach towards fostering good relations with neighboring India and allowing visits of Sikh pilgrims to Kartarpur Sahib have brought attention to items linked with Sikh heritage in Pakistan. Toys representing or associated with historical religious sites like Gurdwaras are often imported into the country by Pakistani families, including those from Punjab.
The recent revisions aim to accurately reflect market realities and ensure fair trade practices while maintaining a balanced relationship between Pakistan and its trading partners. It’these adjustments mark an important step in streamlining the import process for various goods, contributing positively towards international commerce.
