The UK witnessed a rise in shop price inflation as the cost of living crisis deepens, with major retail chains reporting an increase from 1.0% to 1.2%, amid disruinasion and rising energy costs due to the ongoing conflict in Iran.
While food prices have seen a declide growth at their lowest point this year, sectors such as furniture and health care saw significant price increases reflecting the elevated raw material and shipping costs brought about by global supply chain pressures. The British Retail Consortimy’s Chief Executive Helen Dickinson calls for urgent government intervention to help alleviate expenses.
