Telemundo Partners with GTS for Operación Triunfo Estados Unidos Music Competition

Key Takeaways

  • Telemundo and record label GTS have partnered to launch the U.S. version of Operación Triunfo.
  • The competition premieres on July 7 at 7 p.m. ET, aiming to discover new Latino talent.
  • GTS will have preferential rights to sign artists from the show and develop concert tours.

Telemundo has partnered with GTS, a leading record label, for the launch of Operación Triunfo Estados Unidos, an adaptation of the long-running Spanish music competition franchise. The series is set to premiere on July 7 at 7 p.m. ET and will feature contestants competing in various musical challenges.

Narcís Rebollo, CEO and president of GTS, expressed pride in being part of this strategic alliance: 'It is a source of pride — and a responsibility — for GTS to take part in the first edition of Operación Triunfo Estados Unidos alongside Telemundo.'

Rebollo highlighted that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the format's creation, noting his involvement from its inception. 'I am convinced that we will discover great new talent in this first U.S. edition,' he stated.

Javier Pons, chief content officer and head of Telemundo Studios, emphasized the partnership’s potential to train a new generation of Latino artists: 'This alliance allows us not only to discover and train a new generation of Latino talent in the country but also to help drive their careers beyond the program.'

The deal strengthens GTS' position in discovering and developing Latin talent internationally. For Telemundo, it provides an industry partner that can extend the show's impact beyond television screens. The partnership aims to give artists real opportunities for artistic development and visibility in the music industry.

Since its launch in Spain in 2001, Operación Triunfo has introduced numerous successful artists such as David Bisbal, Pablo López, Amaia, and Aitana. This U.S. edition seeks to continue this legacy by identifying and nurturing new talent from diverse backgrounds within the Latino community.

The competition's format includes various musical challenges designed to test contestants' skills and creativity. Successful participants may benefit from GTS' preferential rights for signing contracts and potential concert tours, providing them with a pathway to broader success in the music industry.
