Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a significant educational reform initiative, announcing plans to provide 100,000 free electric bikes to students across the province. This move is part of broader efforts by the Punjab government to enhance access to education and modernize public schools.

Speaking at a ceremony in Arifwala, Chief Minister Nawaz highlighted that the initiative will complement existing programs aimed at improving school infrastructure. She stated, 'We are transforming our public schools into modern educational institutions where every student has equal opportunities regardless of their background.'

In addition to the electric bikes, the government plans to distribute 100,000 laptops and offer 50,000 merit scholarships. The Chief Minister also announced an investment of Rs. 40 billion to upgrade schools by adding new classrooms, furniture, clean drinking water, bathrooms, fans, and other essential facilities.

To further equip students with modern skills, science, technology, computer, IT, and artificial intelligence (AI) labs will be established in these upgraded schools. Nawaz emphasized the importance of these technological advancements, saying, 'We are preparing our students for a future where digital literacy is crucial.'

The initiative also includes plans to establish 300 modern schools across Punjab and expand the Green Electric Bus service to ensure safe transportation for students during the rainy season.

Addressing parents directly, Chief Minister Nawaz urged them to keep children away from unsafe areas during the monsoon. She highlighted recent incidents that claimed several lives, emphasizing the need for greater vigilance in ensuring student safety.
