Shan Masood suffered a calf injury while representing Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in a President’s Trophy Grade-I match. The cricketer experienced discomfort in his left calf, which forced him to withdraw from the ongoing final round of the tournament.

Medical assessments suggest the injury will keep Masood out of action for a period of 2 to 3 weeks. Sri Lanka begins its tour of Pakistan with a three-day warm-up match in Islamabad from 4 November to 6 November.

The first Test match is scheduled for Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from 9 November to 13 November. A second Test will follow at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from 17 November to 21 November as part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle.

Babar Azam took over as Pakistan’s Test captain in July 2024, following Masood's tenure which began ahead of the 2023 tour of Australia. Masood led the national side in 16 Tests, recording 4 wins and 12 losses for a 25% winning percentage.

During his leadership, Pakistan suffered a 3-0 series defeat against Australia in 2023 and a 2-0 home series loss to Bangladesh. He also oversaw a 2-1 victory against England in 2024.
