Craig Overton was named men's player of the year at the Professional Cricketers' Association awards for his achievements in the sport. The Somerset team secured second place in the County Championship standings.
Overton recorded 734 runs and took 53 wickets, achieving an average of 19.18 across his efforts. His career for England includes 15 appearances, comprising eight Test matches and seven one-day internationals.
However, the cricketer has not featured for England since 2022. Regarding his future selection, Overton stated, "For me it's just putting in performances and making their decisions as hard as possible."
He added that he always considered playing for England, noting, "Any kid's dream is to play for England and I'm no exception." Overton further commented on the selection process, stating, "If I'm good enough they'll pick me and at the minute they're not quite doing that and that's their prerogative and they see their side going in a different way, which is fine."
