Fatima Sana signed with the Perth Scorchers for the forthcoming Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) season 12. This signing completes the Perth Scorchers’ overseas roster for WBBL 12.

The 24-year-old all-rounder, Sana, will feature in the Scorchers’ initial eight matches of the season. She will be the second Pakistani woman to participate in the WBBL, following Nida Dar.

Expressing her excitement, Sana stated, “I’ve watched the WBBL from Pakistan and always wondered what it would feel like to be part of this great competition.” Furthermore, she remarked, “To now wear the Scorchers colors, represent such a great club and walk out at the WACA Ground while being cheered on by people back home is incredibly special. This really is a dream come true.”

Previously, Sana made her international debut during Pakistan’s tour of South Africa in 2019. In 2021, she achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Pakistani woman to secure an ICC award, winning ICC Women’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year.

The all-rounder has also served as Pakistan’s permanent captain since the 2024 T20 World Cup. During May, she recorded the fastest fifty in women’s T20 internationals, reaching the mark in just 15 balls against Zimbabwe.

Two months after that T20 international achievement, she played in the ECB’s Hundred, representing Birmingham Phoenix across six matches. Additionally, Sana assisted Pakistan in securing a bronze medal at the Asian Games.

Perth Scorchers will also welcome back England all-rounder Freya Kemp and New Zealand star Sophie Devine. Separately, Pakistan’s Home Cricket Broadcast Rights were sold for Rs. 350 Million.
