Satya Nadella hosted an invite-only event for key enterprise customers where Microsoft pitched Copilot as the “OS for work”. The company confirmed it is integrating coding and agent capabilities, alongside the full power of Office, into Copilot.
Microsoft fused its consumer and enterprise Copilot applications into one unified user interface. This new Copilot application features distinct tabs dedicated to chat, coding, and the Autopilot AI agent.
Nadella stated, “We are the architects of a new frontier of work, using these new tools and capabilities”. Jacob Andreou was appointed by Nadella to manage Copilot across both commercial and consumer sectors, reporting directly to the Microsoft CEO.
Andreou noted that “The bar for enterprise software is higher than it has ever been before. The expectations we have of the tools we adopt at work are set by the things we use after hours and at the weekends at home. What this means is that consumer UX and care needs to make its way into the workplace”. Regarding hardware, the refreshed 12-inch Surface Pro will launch on 13 October, priced at $1,149.99.
The refreshed 13-inch Surface Laptop will also become available on 13 October, starting at $1,199.99. Microsoft Ink Canvas, a new digital sketchpad app, will debut next month.
The Ink Canvas application will first appear on the new 12-inch Surface Pro and other compatible devices on 13 October. Brad Smith will take charge of communications at Microsoft.
